Solar Control Film

Keep the daylight, lose the heat. Solar control films reject a large share of the sun's energy to make rooms more comfortable and buildings cheaper to cool.

How it works

Daylight in, heat out

Sunlight carries energy as visible light, infrared (which we feel as heat) and ultraviolet. Solar control film is engineered to reflect or absorb much of the infrared and almost all of the UV, while letting through as much visible light as the project needs.

The result is a bright space with fewer hot spots near the glass, less glare on screens and far less fading of floors and furnishings.

  • Lower cooling costs and HVAC load
  • Fewer hot spots near windows
  • Less glare on screens
  • Protects interiors from fading
Benefits

Why building owners choose solar control

Energy savings

Less solar heat gain means air conditioning runs less in warm months.

Comfort

More even temperatures make the space next to windows usable again.

Glare control

Softer light for offices, classrooms and living spaces.

UV protection

Blocks most UV rays to slow fading. [Confirm UV % from spec sheet.]

Uniform look

Gives a building a consistent, modern exterior appearance.

Fast to install

A quick retrofit with little disruption and no glass replacement.

Quality & manufacturing

Spectrally engineered film

Solar control films are designed to treat each part of the solar spectrum differently: block what heats, keep what lights.

Factory production line
  1. 01

    Clear PET base

Optically clear polyester gives strength and a distortion-free view.

  2. 02

    Heat-rejecting layers

Sputtered metals or nano-ceramics are applied to reflect or absorb infrared energy.

  3. 03

    UV-blocking adhesive

The mounting adhesive carries UV absorbers that block most ultraviolet light.

  4. 04

    Measured performance

Each film is tested for VLT, total solar energy rejected and SHGC, and the results go on the spec sheet.
